6-12 Orientation Course

This short-term program offers a comprehensive exploration of the Montessori approach to child development, specifically targeting children ages 6 to 12. Over the course of approximately two weeks, participants will gain valuable insights and practical knowledge.

The AMI Montessori 3-6 Diploma Course is an intensive, full-time program crafted to immerse students in the transformative theory and practice of the Montessori approach to education. Spanning  eight months, this course empowers students to work effectively with children aged 3 to 6 years.

The AMI Montessori 6-12 Diploma Course is an immersive full-time program that empowers students to explore the profound theory and practice of the Montessori approach to education. Over the span of 16 months, participants will be equipped to inspire and nurture the minds of children aged 6 to 12 years.

3-6 Orientation course

ORIENTATION COURSE DETAILS:

The course is open to parents, teachers, psychologists and anyone who is interested in understanding the child. Come, understand the characteristics of the child in the age group of 3-6 years. This course will be of interest to those who wish to understand the needs of children and the appropriate response to the needs. This course also provides a glimpse of what a longer term Diploma course might offer.

 

The course will:

  • cover the aspects of this foundational developmental stage and allow an insight into how one can best support the development of this child.

  • introduce the participants to the idea of observation of children with a scientific eye in any environment.

  • give the participants some practical tips on how to engage children in this age group through simple yet effective methods.

  • Students will receive a certificate from Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), The Netherlands.

DELIVERY FORMAT:

  • Participants will come together, online, for synchronous work for a period of 32 hours. In this time, the participants will need to be completely present, with their cameras on.

  • During this time together, there will be content delivery, small group discussions, opportunities for questions.

  • An additional 28 hours make up the asynchronous aspect of the course, during which the participants engage in independent work in their own time.

  • During this time, they will be assigned guided reading, videos to watch and some practice of work introduced during the synchronous time.

  • Participants will also be expected to write 3 short papers based on the content delivered on the course, which will need to meet the required standards as set by the trainer.

  • All participants will need to complete 9 hours of observation over and above the hours required for course content.

  • Participants will receive guidance on how to complete the observation assignments and the they will need to submit their notes from the observation along with a report.

  • It is important for participants to have a stable internet connection.

  • All lectures will be delivered in English and the assignments will need to be submitted in English as well.

REQUIREMENTS for CERTIFICATION:

  • Submit all assignments 

  • Complete 9 hours of observation 

  • Have 90 % attendance rate

ATTENDANCE:

Participants must have 90% attendance in order to receive the certificate.

Pavithra Rajagopalan

Pavithra Rajagopalan is an AMI 3-6 trainer. After gaining her AMI Primary diploma In 2005, she worked in Montessori schools in India, the US and New Zealand.  After becoming an AMI 3-6 trainer in 2020, Pavithra is now faculty at the Sir Ratan Tata Institute, Mumbai, India. She is also faculty for Diploma courses in China and Tanzania. She has conducted orientation courses around the world as well. One of her interests is understanding how to ensure safety for children in learning environments and exploring the role of multiple stakeholders (policy makers, school heads, teachers, parents, caregivers) in this process. Pavithra also works closely with the Gandhian Institution, Shanti Ashram, India, where she is involved in strengthening pioneering projects related to Early Childhood Education in under-served communities.

Common Queries

  • Does IMC offer accommodation?
    The Indonesia Montessori Study Centre does not provide facilities for accommodation. However we can guide and support students while they look for accommodation in any way we can.
  • How long before the course starts should I be there?
    We advise students to come at least two weeks before the course begins. This time will be needed for orientation. It would be best to locate a good place to stay close to the Training centre.
